ARTCONNECTS19
The very fact that Art Connects underpins everything we do.
It’s about Campaigning for, Inspiring and Actioning Creativity in our Schools, Work and Lives
It’s about #Art For All - a fundamental human right and the Corona Virus has brought it to the fore. Just look at how much art is happening, everywhere - not just Artist led and Arts Council-funded project but on social media, the Loo Roll Challenge and the Thursday Evening Clap for Carers that see people playing musical instruments.
We say it’s all art. It’s connecting us.
We are seeing the very best of ourselves. And what we are truly capable of doing and being.
Last year, inspired by a lad in Leeds and a Minister of Culture In London, we ran the year long #ARTCONNECTS19 Festival of Creative Schools, Work and Lives.
At the end of the year Nile Rodgers inspired us to call this year the #COLLABORATE Year.
See the film here for a taste of what we got up to.
#ARTCONNECTS in the #commuNity LOCK-IN
We will of course continue with business as normal, but given we now have a fully functioning Content Creation and Community Collaboration Hub (think telly studio and internet system) we want to create weekly, if not more regular magazine programmes showcasing Art and Creativity in our Schools, Work and Lives at this time.
We’re looking for creative content ideas and contributors. If you like to suggest something or somebody or come on the show yourself, sign up here now and tell us.
WHAT’S THE LINK BETWEEN ART AND SCHOOLS? DO I CARE?
We had an Easter weekend special, live and direct from our friends in the school community there at Parklands Primary on the Seacroft Estate in Leeds.
We chatted to their #BraveSchoolLeader Mr Chris Dyson and other colleagues, children and other #CreativeCarers and have a few special guests dialing in too.
We met a mum and her son who’d built a crane with scrap wood they’d found in their yard, they had quit a surprise the day we launched the #RocketKidsClub with them as they found something else in their yard as you can see in the film here.
See the film we made below showing the work of this great school recently and how they have built an Outstanding School on Inspiration Not Isolation.
Empathy, inclusion, respect and love.
Maybe tomorrow all schools will be like this?
One thing’s for sure, nothing will ever be the same again.
Especially if you help us make sure it isn’t.
THE #ARTofLOOROLLS
We are all about #ARTforALL and democratising art, making it accessible and celebrating everyone’s art and creativity.
This is all in line with #LetsCreate the new ten year vision for the Arts Council which respects, encourages and funds creativity from communities to our most respected and valued institutions.
So what could be more timely and accessible than the #ARTofLOOROLLS?
Let’s stop kicking them around for a moment and create something with them. Post them on Social Media with the hashtag and we’ll feature as many as we can on our weekly #ARTCONNECTS Show, maybe even get a few artists on to discuss their art, and share the thinking behind it.
Sign up on our form here to get on the show.
WIN AN #ILOVEART T-SHIRT
Our #ILOVEART Campaign was inspired by, and is a collaboration with, French Street Artist JR who won $1m from the TED Talks people for his incredible talk about how art can change the world. He’s printed over 1,000 posters for us to fly post and display across the UK
We’ll be printing a few t-shirts live on the show and posting them out to lucky winners.
To be in with a chance, download the logo here and create your own #ILOVEART logo, snap it and share it and we’ll pick a few winners live on air.
GET ON THE SHOW - SHARE YOUR ART
We believe we’re all artists and we want the #ARTCONNECTS Show to be by artists like you, for artists like you.
So sign up on our form here to get on the show.
Here’s a snippet of a magic moment with a Head Teacher and Teacher form two schools in the UK on our first marathon 9 hour show.
