PROGRESS
If you read Christian Wolmar’s brilliant and very readable book ‘Fire and STEAM’, you’ll know that Britain’s railways were built at an incredible rate, not unlike the pace of work on our own railway but certainly quicker than HS2!
Finding a plan of the station to work to was an adventure in itself.
A few people on the Bloxham community Facebook group shared photos with us from the cover of a booklet published by the museum in 1987. This was of a diagram hand drawn from memory by the son of a train driver on the line.
After a false start, buying Volume 2 by mistake, Nick finally managed to track down a copy of the GWR Stations Plan book he’d had as a child. The jigsaw was complete. Work could proceed.
Watch this space for updates but thanks for Bradford’s Building Supplies in the South West, we’re making good progress and hope to have something running by our #FuellingFutures24 event in Ironbridge of World Creativity Day - 21 April.
