COLLABORATE WITH US? WHY?
STEAM Co. is a non-profit community enterprise co-founded nearly ten years ago by a bunch of parents, teachers, creatives, techs and local businesses in a pretty ordinary Primary School (don’t tell the Head Teacher we said that! ;-)
We were partly concerned about our kids’ futures and the skills they’d need to not just survive a world of robots and tech but to thrive in it.
Mostly we were passionate about Creativity - something that the OECD has said is the most important skill, which firms like Google value above all else, yet which is at risk in our schools for reasons we won’t go into here and now. See our blogs.
We’ve worked with school communities all across the UK from Cornwall to Edinburgh. The Isle of Wight to Leeds.
AIMING HIGH
We want to help our kids dream, aim high and find their passion. We call it their art - which could be photography or painting, cooking or coding, dance or design, robots or rockets.
We say Art is the killer combination of Creativity, Tech and People.
(Technology is something that was invented after you were born, so think Tools too - cardboard as much as code))
We help connect our kids with their art.
And our communities with their schools.
By helping them run half and full day creativity sessions?
WHAT WE DO
We have several sessions available:
ROCKET KIDS - our half day intro. All School Assembly, Rocket Making activity and a Real Rocket Launch. More
WHATS YOUR ART - a whole day session with between 4 and 20 creative activities for children to choose from. More
CO CO CODE DAY - a whole day with 4 tech activities: Computer Thinking, Coding, 3D Worlds and Robots. More
TOMORROW’S ENGINEERS - a vocational focussed day with activities on Civil Engineering, Aerospace, Coding and Toys. More
HERE COME THE ROBOTS - an all school assembly and 4 workshops - Coding, Robots, Computer Thinking. More
COLLABORATE FOR CREATIVITY
We need paying to feed our families but many schools face a funding crisis so in 2020 we are reaching out to small and large businesses and organisations to help fund or work by sponsoring our sessions.
Like Barclays Bank have. Like Google have. And like Paul Vine Electrics, a small family firm in a South Devon fishing village have.
PAUL VINE ELECTRICS
Look how this small local electrician’s firm sponsored two days in local schools after meeting up at Camp Bestival.
Why would they do that?
The BIG BANK
Barclays have supported us or five years now, hosting events and sending their Digital Eagles out to help us.
But Barclays don’t do CSR!
THE TECH FIRM
Google have sponsored two of our big events and have funded 2 Coding Tours of the UK in Europe Week of Code.
What do Google look for in people?
OUR CORONA VIRUS RESPONSE
ROCKET KIDS SHOW LIFT OFF
April 24th saw the launch of the Rocket Kids Show with special collaborators and guests from around the world, including the patron of the Rocket Kids Club, and author of “Rocket Boys”, Homer Hickam.
On Sat 21 March we announced our #CommunityLockin with STEAM Co. Broadcasting and Collaborating from an undisclosed location in the West Country.
Three months of activity consisting of:
#ARTCONNECTS - Championing, Inspiring and Actioning Creativity
#ROCKET KIDS CLUB - A safe and creative online community for kids and creative carers
#UK ART TAKE OVER - Activities and action across the UK for the Month of May
#CO-CONFERENCES - A facility for and programem of online video events
HOW CAN YOU HELP? WILL YOU?
We need companies to sponsor our half and full day sessions as well as sponsor our #CommunityLockIn. Maybe even to send a few of their team along to help (and have the best day ever)
They could even sponsor one of the four Pop-Up STEAM Co. Day Drop Trucks we want to put on the road with a STEAMster to inspire and connect across the country.
It will work for you on three levels:
BRAND - if your business is in anyway aligned with creativity, tech or people the fit is right there. You might be in the creative industries or outside but still see the value and fit.
CSR - we work with the full spectrum of schools, from the most socially deprived state schools to the most affluent indies. Supporting us will help drive social mobility and change lives.
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT - staff who have worked with us on our school days say they are among the best days of their lives.

BUT, IT MIGHT NOT WORK
